Dunk at Derrimut for FightMND

CMV Truck & Bus have proudly supported FightMND since 2019 and this year, we took our fundraising efforts one step further with a ‘Dunk at Derrimut’ Big Freeze 8 event to help raise vital funds for this amazing organisation.

FightMND is Australia's largest independent funder of MND research with the purpose of finding effective treatments and ultimately a cure for Motor Neurone Disease.

Our Derrimut team were invited to join us on Wednesday, June 1 for a delicious BBQ and games, plus they could donate to have a shot at dunking their colleagues in the dunk tank for a good cause!

Before the Dunk, we were proud to have Samantha Moffat, FightMND Partnerships Manager and Kirsty Kennedy, Danihers Drive Campaigns Manager, join us to provide our team with further information about the horrible disease that is Motor Neurone, and the amazing work that FightMND does across the country in raising awareness.

Samantha provided an insight into the history of FightMND, the devastating statistics and facts around Motor Neurone Disease (MND), what the effects of MND are, and the investment of funds to date.

Kirsty then spoke to our team about Daniher’s Drive, (FightMND’s famous annual road-trip throughout regional Victoria raising awareness and funds for MND research), when this year’s Drive will occur, and the achievements of the Drive to date.

A delicious BBQ lunch was donated and cooked by the CMV Truck & Bus Derrimut team for everyone to enjoy for a donation. Plus, a very competitive game of ‘kick the footy in the bucket’ occurred, with the chance to win FightMND, Mack, Volvo or UD merchandise.

Then the real fun began - Miles Crawford, Ross Greig, Joe Brucchieri, Donna Carr, Andrew de Longville, Bryce Daniels and Charles Bunker-Smith all put their hands up to be involved and get dunked into the freezing cold water, which was made even colder due to the icy Melbourne winter.

Everyone had fun trying to dunk those involved by throwing a footy or a ball (or even at times just pressing the dunk button), to drop their colleagues into the water.

There was also a range of FightMND merchandise available for sale including socks, Big Freeze 8 beanies, hats and stubbie holders.

We’re thrilled to announce that this special event helped to raise $6,175 for FightMND – what an incredible effort! Thank you to everyone who joined us and for your generous donations!
